Holiday outdoor markets have been on the rise in Manhattan since the dawn of the 21st century. While some date back many years, quite a few are relatively new.
Shopping at holiday markets alone, with friends, or with the kids gives folks a chance to enjoy the fruits of their labor and satisfy some of their yearnings as well as the yearnings of those we love.
Each of the Manhattan holiday markets is a bit different, as some are organized by community groups and others by business organizations. Oftentimes one can find artisanal products that are made in NYC or NYS.
Manhattan Holiday Markets Getting Underway
Some of the Manhattan holiday markets get underway almost immediately after Halloween, while others open up around Thanksgiving time. The Manhattan holiday markets are located in or near the following Manhattan neighborhoods - the Upper East Side UES, the Upper West Side UWS, Midtown NYC, the East Village, the West Village, the Bowery, SoHo, Tribeca, Lower East Side, Harlem, Inwood and Washington Heights. Many either include the serving of some beverage like hot chocolate and generally snacks like cookies - or are near food vendors and restaurants.

Hours. The Grand Central Station holiday market is open daily, Monday - Saturday from 10 am - 7 pm & Sunday from 10 am - 6 pm. Closed for Thanksgiving & open Christmas Eve from 10 am - 6 pm.
DESCRIPTION. This Manhattan holiday market in Midtown began in 1993, and now has 35 vendors occupying half of historic Vanderbilt Hall throughout the holidays selling artwork, clothing, accessories, clothing, toys and home goods. This is one of the Manhattan holiday markets in Midtown Manhattan NYC.

Friday, October 27, 2023 thru Tuesday, January 2, 2024 daily from 11 am to 8 pm, except Saturday & Sunday when they open at 10 am - Bryant Park Winter Village. Approximately 180 mostly local vendors of unique arts and crafts. For details see - https://bryantpark.org
Hours. Weekdays open daily 11 am - 8 pm and on weekends open 10 am - 8 pm. A few of the shops are also open on major holidays.

Description. This Manhattan holiday market in Bryant Park began in 2002 with about 80 shops. Today you'll find about 175 boutiques offering gifts, apparel and foods - oftentimes made by local NYC and NYS artisans. This is one of the Manhattan holiday markets in Midtown Manhattan NYC. The skating rink, which is adjacent to the shops, opened in 2005.

Hours. The Manhattan holiday market at Columbus Circle is open Monday - Saturday from 11 am - 8 pm, Sunday 11 am - 7 pm, and closes 4 pm Christmas Eve. Also closed Christmas Day.
Description. The Columbus Circle holiday market includes a number of unique offerings such as handmade wooden puzzles, artisan chocolates, locally made accessories and jewelry, clothing and food and drink. There are toilets available. The market is managed by the Central Park Conservancy, the Lincoln Center BID and the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. This is one of the Manhattan holiday markets on the Upper West Side of Manhattan NYC.

Description. Holiday market with about 200 artisans, dealers and vendors. Some of the proceeds go to support a nearby school with 2,000 students. There are indoor & outdoor sections.
Location. At 100 West 77th Street at Columbus Avenue on the UWS of Manhattan. This market is open year round on Sundays.

Description. The festivities begin at 5.30 pm with a tree lighting in Dante Park at Lincoln Center at Broadway & 63rd Street. Numerous talented musicians, sometimes with national reputations, will be there to perform.
Lincoln Square’s sidewalks and public spaces will have musicians, processional groups, jugglers and stilt-walkers and over 30 of Lincoln Square’s restaurants and eateries will offer food tastings at nominal cost [$1-$4] at three separate outdoor locations between 6 and 8.30 pm.
